You're Just Done

It’s Not That You Can’t Anymore. It’s That You’re Done!"

“You didn’t suddenly become fragile. You just stopped abandoning your own needs to hold up everyone else’s." ~Athena Emert Gray

There’s a meme going around again. One of those generational truths, cloaked in humor but edged with something sharper. It says Gen X doesn’t get advice because we don’t need it. We’re the most self-sufficient generation in history. We wouldn’t care even if someone did try to tell us what to do. And if the zombie apocalypse hits? Everyone’s hiding behind us.

It’s funny—until it isn’t.

Because yes, we’ve carried it all. We were the latchkey kids and the quiet fixers. The ones who adapted, pivoted, made it work. We became the ones you could rely on, which somehow meant we were the ones who always had to be relied on.

And in all of that doing… we disappeared a little.

But here’s the truth: you were never invisible. You were indispensable. And you’re still here.

It’s not that you’ve lost your power—it’s that you gave it away, piece by piece, for people you loved, causes you believed in, and systems that never returned the favor.

You sacrificed so much. Not because you were asked—but because you saw what needed to be done, and you did it. Again and again. With grit, with grace, without asking for applause.

But what if this next chapter isn’t about holding everyone else up?

What if it’s about finally letting yourself rest? About not needing to be the one who fixes everything.

About letting others carry some of what you’ve carried for so long.

What if it’s time to become visible again—not because you need attention, but because you’ve earned the right to be seen?

To remember who you are.

To reclaim what you’ve set aside.

To ask yourself what you want—not in whispers, but in full voice.

Not to prove anything. Just because you can.

This is your season. And it doesn’t need to look like anyone else’s.

If you are ready for your next chapter, but unclear what that might be, give The Momentum Starter a try and see where it leads.
